Doors

You've heard it a million times. When one door closes, another opens.

What you may not have heard is the entire quote. Attributed to Alexander Graham Bell, the full quote says, "When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us."

Let that sink in for a moment.

It reminds me of a similar quote from Let Your Life Speak by Parker Palmer. Palmer says, “Each time a door closes, the rest of the world opens up. All we need to do is stop pounding on the door that just closed, turn around - and welcome the largeness of life that now lies open to our soul.”

You're invited to a changed perspective in whatever closed door you are now facing. Turn around. Stop lingering. Allow what is closed to direct you wholeheartedly toward what is open, ready, and waiting for you.

There is beauty everywhere - just turn your head.
