I don't know about you, but I have never wanted to be famous. When I look at celebrities and power players in the world, I see the intense scrutiny of their lives. Even though their stories can seem exciting, the trade off seems like a large price to pay - despite their paychecks.
I do sometimes, however, feel too small to make significant changes in the world. I feel powerless to fix politics, feed everyone who is hungry, or save us from asteroids. My anxiety can highly spike when I remember that I am just one person and there are so many problems.
I need a reminder sometimes that I have a Call to Small. Mother Teresa was often known to say, “We cannot all do great things. But we can do small things with great love.” I may not be able to make everything right, but I can hope to make it better. I can embrace a call to do small things with great love.
In this season of giving, grand gestures may be more than we can create for many reasons. But small things wrapped in great love are often so much more powerful. Where is your great love needed right now?
