Halloween is over, and in case you haven't noticed - Christmas items went up for sale in at least September. Thanksgiving? Who has even heard of Thanksgiving? It may well be the most skipped over holiday in terms of consumerism - and yet the mindset of Thanksgiving should touch our lives daily.
We have so many things to be thankful for, despite the hardships and stress we often face. When was the last time you slowed down and counted your blessings? Here's another little reminder of how we sometimes get ahead of ourselves in this season. In the film version of White Christmas, Counting Your Blessings is beautifully sung by Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney. And yet, this song traditionally connected with Christmas never mentions the holiday. It is a good reminder anytime.
As we approach the holiday season, think of all the things you have to jump start - and then make the decision to make your jump start an intentional slow down. Sit down. Stop. Have a mug of something warm. Count your blessings, and let that sense of thanksgiving set the mindset and heart-set of the coming weeks.
I'd love to help you make this intention. Consider signing up for one of our upcoming special series meditation sessions focused on gratitude. There are two options available, one in person and one online. These sessions are free, and I hope they will be a great jump start to the holidays as we slow down together. (Feeling awkward about attending a meditation session? It's easy - it is just a chance to relax! If you have any questions just let me know.)
