Tornado

Spring is a season that we have to be on the lookout for crazy storms - but sometimes storms come to us internally as well.

Have you ever felt two strongly opposing feelings at the same time? Recently I was talking to my friend Nissa about what we decided to call "tornado feelings," how someone can feel so positive and happy on one hand, while also feeling anxiety or fear on the other. Or - feel free to change out those emotion names, because any opposing ideas will do. It certainly stretches your mental rubber band, and it reminds us we are all complicated creatures.

Nissa and I are also huge Harry Potter fans, and I can't help but think of the clip below when I think of complicated feelings. When Hermione tries to explain to Ron and Harry a wide range of emotions Cho is experiencing, Ron quips, "One person can't feel all that at once, they'd explode." Take a look to hear one of my favorite Hermione comeback quotes!

Whatever you are feeling today, I invite you to sit still in the mental and emotional weather system you may have on your map. You're a human. Give yourself some grace today. When you are ready, find a friend you trust and talk it out. If you need a friend, let me know.

“There is beauty to be found in the pain. Life is brutal, but it's also beautiful. Life is Brutiful.”
