When I Grow Up

What do you want to be when you grow up? This is a question often asked of kids, but I think it is a worthwhile question for adults as well. Who do you want to be known as? What lasting legacy are you leaving? What are you pouring your life into - and is that what you want do pour life into? Where are you going? Where are you growing? Who do you want to be today - a year from now - in five years - in twenty?

The answers to those questions are invitations for work we do now. Who we want to be starts with who we are. Matthew 17:20 says, "Thus you will know them by their fruits." Take a moment to think about where you are producing fruit in your life, or where you need to put in effort, give back, or make a difference. Or maybe right now you need to get very self focused, because you have given so much so that is time to heal and reflect.

Life is busy, complicated, often messy. Slow down for even five minutes today and ask yourself, "What do I want to be when I grow up?" The answers may surprise you.

Being a part of a group of trusted friends can help us discern our callings. It is the last week to sign up for Cheers, and spots are filling up, so be sure to pass the word. I'd love to see you there, or for Genesis, or for Be. And if these don't meet your needs or your schedule, don't worry. There is more to share coming soon. Join us if you can as we grow together.
